Endothelial dysfunction is present in several pathophysiologies such as inflammation and hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia promotes several complications, especially the difficulty of wound healing. The aim of this study was to evaluate the endothelial function through vascular reactivity of normoglycemic (NG) and hyperglycemic (HG) rats at different stages of the healing process. A back injury of 1cm diameter was made in 80 Wistar rats treated (HG) or not (NG) with Alloxan (a drug that induces hyperglycemia) and these were divided into: control group; treated with a red laser (660 nm) (L), treated with phytotherapy (P); and with the combination of laser and phytotherapy (L+P). The concentration-effect curve for acetylcholine was performed at times zero (surgery day and inflammatory phase), four days after surgery (inflammatory phase), eight days after (proliferative phase), and fourteen days after (remodeling phase). Hyperglycemic rats had decrease of endothelial function in Emax parameters (day 0: 73.43% ± 4.30% n=2; day 4: 80.13% ± 2.51% n=9; day 8: 91.30% ± 1.74% n=7; day 14: 79.38% ± 3.54% n=5) and pD2 (day 0: 6.53 ± 0.10 n=2; day 4: 6.68 ± 0.08 n=9; day 8: 7.16 ± 0.05 n=7; day 14: 6.89 ± 0.12 n=5) compared to normoglycemic animals (Emax day 0: 83.27% ± 2.20% n=5, day 4: 82.66% ± 2.28% n=8, day 8: 91.27% ± 1.90% n=8, day 14: 95.70% ± 1.86% n=5; pD2 day 0: 6.58 ± 0.10 n=5, day 4: 6.92 ± 0.10 n=8, day 8: 7.02 ± 0.06 n=8, day 14: 7.11 ± 0.05 n=5). The inflammatory phase was more harmful to the endothelial function and HG treated rats improved endothelial function in comparison to control (Emax L: 87.49% ± 2.00% n=5, P: 91.50 ± 1.87% n=7, L+P: 86.99% 1.74% n=9; pD2 L: 7.07 ± 0.06 n=5, F: 7.03 ± 0.05 n=7, L+F: 6.89 ± 0.05 n=9).
