  • Introduction: Mapping the most common neoplasms in children in the Lower Tocantins region, in Pará, highlights epidemiological data that require attention in order to outline strategies that seek to mitigate the damage caused, ensure timely recovery and, simultaneously, reduce pressure on the health system. Objective: The present study aims to analyze the prevalence of the main types of cancer in children in the Baixo-Tocantins region in the years 2014-2024. Methodology: The data for this research were extracted from the Hospital Information System (SIH/SUS) database, which showed a predominance of the neoplasms in question in relation to the child population in the municipalities of Baixo-Tocantins (Abaetetuba, Acará, Baião, Barcarena, Cametá, Igarapé-Miri, Mocajuba, Moju, Oeiras do Pará and Tailândia). Results: It was found that during the study period, there were 906 cases of leukemia; 289 of benign neoplasms in situ and of uncertain behavior; 117 of malignant neoplasms of bone and articular cartilage; 113 cases of malignant neoplasia of the eyes and adnexa and 95 cases of malignant neoplasia of the mesothelial tissue and soft tissues in children during the selected period, with children aged 1 to 4 years being the most affected by the disease. This is an alarming indicator, especially because it manifests itself in the first decades of life of affected children, negatively impacting their development in all aspects inherent to a full life. Given the above, it is essential to adopt interventions based on scientific evidence in order to guide and improve clinical management. Conclusion: The neoplasms discussed in this study have an optimistic prognosis, directly related to their staging, which makes this a preponderant factor for effective and personalized treatment for the individual. For this, early diagnosis is essential. In light of this, the prevalence of cases, especially leukemia, at such early ages, highlights the urgency of interventions to mitigate the impacts of this condition on children, in addition to relieving the pressure on the health system of northeastern Pará. Therefore, these elements constitute imperative premises for planning predictive public policies.
