  • Resumo
  • Liquid biopsy applying infrared absorption spectroscopy represents a new non-invasive approach that has been widely studied in the last decade and holds great promise to contribute to the diagnosis, especially in diseases such as oral cancer, which affects more than 377,000 people worldwide. In this work, saliva from patients with squamous cell carcinoma and patients without the pathology was subjected to micro-reflectance infrared absorption spectroscopy to identify their spectral signatures, compare them, observe the separation of the study groups, and discover biomarkers of oral cancer. Statistical analysis showed that the accuracy was greater than 90%, and with the ROC curve, we observed the main spectral changes in the bands at 883, 898, 1770, 1818, 1855, and 1878 cm-1 which correspond to the biomolecules histidine and 2-Keto adipic acid, palmitic acid, and acetoacetic acid laid biomolecules, which are commonly increased in people with cancer.
