Evidences had been presented relating COVID-19 mortality might to viral driven
hyperinflammation. The hepcidin hormone present in saliva is a hyperinflammation marker for COVID-19 and other pathological states. The detection of hepcidin hormone available in saliva is an option to be considered and the Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) technique is an interesting possibility to address this problem. SERS has great potential for point-of-care applications in diagnosis and screening in biofluids like saliva Here, we present DFT-based vibrational calculations that enabled assign the experimental vibrational spectra with molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) of hepcidin and predict its SERS-activiy.
