Introduction: The inflammatory process and oxidative stress is able to induce endothelial dysfunction. It has been described that O. ficus indica and R. canina presents anti-inflammatory effects and antioxidant activity. Aim: To study the vasodilation effect induced by association of O. ficus indica and R. canina, as well verify if this association improves the endothelial function. Methods: It was performed a vascular reactivity experiment, by using ten male Wistar rats (180 to 200 g). The study was approved by Animal Use Ethics Committee (CEUA) of the Federal University of São Carlos, on the Protocol number: 7936070618. Cumulative concentration curve were performed to standardized extracts association from O. ficus indica and R. canina, in aortic rings with and without endothelium. Endothelial dysfunction was induced by LPS (50 µg. mL-1). After aortic rings were incubed with extracts from O. ficus indica and R. canina, was made pré-contraction by phenylephrine and relaxation to Ach. Data were presented as mean values±SEM. Was considered statistically significant p<0.05. Results: Extracts from O. ficus indica and R. canina induces vasodilation, that is potentiated by endothelium (pD2: 0.8 ± 0.1, n = 6) compared to aortic rings without endothelium (pD2: 1.3 ± 0.04, n = 6, p<0.05). In aortic rings incubated with LPS the relaxation induced by Ach was impaired (pD2: 4.4 ± 2.1, Emax: 44.1 ± 8.1%, n= 7), compared to control (pD2: 10.8 ± 0.06; Emax: 97.9 ± 1.2%, n= 7, p<0.05). Extracts from O. ficus indica and R. canina improved the relaxation induced by Ach (pD2: 7.1 ± 0.9, Emax: 92.9 ± 1, 7, n = 7, p<0.05), in aortic rigs with LPS treatment. Conclusion: Our results indicate that standardized extracts association of O. ficus indica and R. canina induces vasodilation and is able to revert endothelial dysfunction induced by LPS.
