The hypertension is a global disease of concern, which can generate vascular diffusion and a chronic vascular remodeling. To evaluate a possible new drug against hypertension we evaluate the use of the metalloproteinase PI BmooMPalpha-I of Bothrops moojen in the animal model of two kidney one clip (2K1C) with a treatment of 4 weeks with 4 experimental groups (divided in Sham and 2K1C): using a saline group, a control group with Losartan (10 mg/kg), a group with the metalloproteinase (denominated Bm1 for this experiment, 1 ?g/kg) and a group with both drugs (Losartan (10 mg/kg) and Bm 1?g/kg). This experiment use Male Wistar rats (180-200g), been approved by Ethical Principles of the National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation (CONCEA) (CEUA-UFPA no 1693010319 (ID 001161). Systolic blood pressure (SBP) was measured weekly by tail cuff plethysmography. Left ventricle (LV) morphometry and fibrosis were evaluated in hematoxylin/eosin and picrosirius red-stained sections, respectively. Moreover, rats were subjected to electrocardiogram test. This work evaluate for the first time the antihypertensive activity of an SVMP-1 isolated from the venom of B.moojeni (Bm1), the Bm1 was capable of decrease the blood pressure, the heart remodeling, reduces the cardiac fibrosis, been different in comparison with the not treatment group (p<0,05) and been not different between the treatment with Losartana and the treatment with Bm1 and Losartana (p<0,05). In conclusion, BM1 a SVMP-1 from B. moojeni reduces hypertension-induced cardiac remodeling.
