The 15th International Meeting of Astronomy and Astronautics will happen in the period April 27-29, 2023, in the North Region of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, The opening ceremony will happen at the Teatro Municipal Trianon on April 27th at 9:00h am in Brazilian Time (-3UT)

The meeting will include special presentations, workshops, exhibitions, astronomy clubs exhibitions, International Competition, Star Party and many activities...

The event in being organized by Louis Cruls Astronomy Club with the support of Explore Scientific, Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project and Astronomy Outreach Network.

Esta é a página do 15o Encontro Internacional de Astronomia e Astronáutica, um dos maiores eventos periódicos mundiais de ensino e popularização da Astronomia e da Astronáutica. O evento ocorrerá no período de 27 a 29 de abril de 2023. A abertura ocorrerá no dia 27 de abril às 9:00h no Teatro Municipal Trianon.

O evento terá palestras, mini-cursos, oficinas e muitas atividades.

On April,2008, we organized the first International Meeting of Astronomy and Astronautics. Since this year we ever organize on April a new edition of the event. In the past events we already had the total participation of more than 180 invited speakers from 34 countries!!!

Gabe Gabrielle is a life motivator and a veteran engineer at NASA. He has been at the Kennedy Space Center as a contractor for NASA as an Engineering Programmer for approximately 17 years, while also being the Former Director of Engineering for the US Air Force Special Operations Command. Gabe performed in several countries, motivating countless numbers of students worldwide

International Dark Sky Association


Bettymaya Foot loves to bring people to the dark side. As the Director of Engagement for the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA), Bettymaya works with a global community of dark sky defenders, empowering them with tools, resources, and inspiration to protect the night sky. An avid astrophotographer, you can usually find her out under the stars with one of her three cameras battling off mosquitos. Bettymaya’s photography has been featured in Sky and Telescope, National Geographic, and the Los Angeles Times. Her dark sky efforts have reached TedX Kansas City and the New York Times.

Janne Robberstad

Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL)


Janne Iren Robberstad is a PhD candidate and Associate Professor of Visual Arts at the Faculty of Education, Arts and Sports, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL). Her PhD research focuses on eco-creativity within STEAM education. Robberstad is Project Coordinator of the EU Erasmus+ “GSO4SCHOOL” project, and the Production Manager of Global Science Opera (GSO). She has led GSO workshops in Japan, USA, Brazil, Sao Tome & Principe, Portugal, Norway and Chile. Robberstad has 15 years’ experience as a teacher in the Norwegian folk high schools, and 12 years’ experience as a visual artist and theatre designer.

Dermeval Carneiro

Diretor do Planetário Rubens Azevedo


Dermeval Carneiro is Professor of Physics and Astronomy and Director of the Rubens Azevedo Planetarium located in Fortaleza, Ceará. In the long and fruitful professional career of Professor Dermeval, the following activities and functions stand out: President of the Brazilian Society of Friends of Astronomy, Technical advisor to the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the State of Ceará for the installation of planetariums, and Author of the Planetary as a Classroom Project being carried out at the Rubens de Azevedo Planetarium.

Julio Fabris

Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo


Júlio César Fabris Graduated in Physics at UFES in. 1981, Masters at UFMG in 1984 and PhD at Université Pierre et Marie Curie, France, in 1992. He is a professor at UFES and researcher 1B at CNPq. He develops studies in astrophysics, cosmology, gravitation and quantum field theory.

Eduardo Penteado

IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE)


Eduardo Penteado has been working as one of the Coordinators of the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE). He holds a degree in physics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2006), a master's degree in astronomy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2009) and a doctorate in Natural Sciences from Radboud University (2016), having done research in the area of astrochemistry. He did an internship at the Leiden Observatory (2009). He was coordinator of the IAU100 NameExoWorlds project (2019) on the occasion of the centenary of the International Astronomical Union (IAU)

Akejandro Sommer

Director of Promotion and Development of Tourist Offers - Ministry of Tourism of Missiones


Alejandro Sommer is the Director of Promotion and Development of Tourist Offers of the Undersecretary of Ecotourism of the Ministry of Tourism of Misiones and is the Representative in Argentina of IDA (international Dark-Sky Association) and ambassador of Cielos Oscuros (IAU) working to obtain 3 certifications of IDSP, instead of achieving the development of state laws for the conservation of dark sky and promotion of astrotourism. He works on a team with the Universidad Nacional de Misiones of the careers in Biology and Entomology for the conservation of biodiversity and the study of biological impact on fauna and insects, because just like the birds..

Edson Jequecene

Astronomy Club Detetives do Cosmos


Edson Domingos Jequecene Mozambican, amateur astronomer, science popularizer, founder of the astronomy club Detetives do Cosmos and member of the African citizen science group Pan - African Citizen Science e – Lab. He carries out various scientific dissemination activities in schools, public places and communication channels in Mozambique, such as Radio, TV, among others. He also participates in several astronomy projects and groups in Mozambique and around the world.

Marcelo de Oliveira Souza

UENF and Louis Cruls Astronomy Club


He is currently an associate professor at the State University of Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro and General Coordinator of the Louis Cruls Astronomy Club. He has experience in Physics, with an emphasis on Use and Development of New Technologies for Teaching Physics and Astronomy, working mainly on the following topics: scientific dissemination, cosmology, astronomy, astronomy teaching, astronautics and educational technology. He is coordinator in Brazil of the international entity Astronomers Without Borders (Astronomers Without Borders), coordinates the UNAWE program in Brazil, is director in Brazil of the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project, coordinates the World Science Opera in Brazil and coordinates in Brazil the ESA Project Mission X. Creator in 2008 and president of the organizing committee of the International Astronomy and Astronautics Meeting.
