  • Abstract
  • Peninsula of Yucatán is a very interesting region of Mexico, politically is conformed by three states: Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatán. For us, like biological entities, this place is very important, because it was the site of impact of a meteorite that could be the reason why we are here. Other important singularity is that Peninsula of Yucatán was the cradle of the Mayan civilization. The vegetation in Peninsula of Yucatán is considered like one of the most important and conserved in Mexico, with thousands of hectares represented majorly by dry forest and big reserves with mangroves ecosystems. However, the development in the place since the half of the past century has provoked a considerable reduction in natural ecosystems of the region. In the case of lichens, only few reports have been published and very few species have been described for the region. That's why here it's presented a compilation of all works that include lichens; furthermore new records are discussed. Lichens from Peninsula of Yucatán to the moment, are represented only by species of Ascomycota, of them the families best represented was Collemataceae, Graphidaceae, Parmeliaceae, Physciaceae, Roccellaceae and Teloschistaceae. In relation about its life form, crustoce were the best represented of total of lichens, following by foliose  and fruticose.
