Full Professor at the UFBA School of Communication and permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Communication and Contemporary Culture (POSCOM/UFBA). He holds a degree in Engineering, a Master’s in Science and Technology Policy (COPPE/UFRJ, 1991), and a PhD in Sociology (Université René Descartes, Paris V, Sorbonne, 1995). He was a visiting scholar (post-doctoral) at the University of Alberta and McGill University, Canada (2007–2008 – CNPq), and at the National University of Ireland, Ireland (2015–2016 – CAPES). Pierre Lévy holds PhDs in Information Science and Sociology, and has authored thirteen books translated into more than a dozen languages, including Collective Intelligence, Becoming Virtual, and The Semantic Sphere. He is also the CEO and co-founder of INTLEKT Metadata Inc., and the inventor of IEML (the Information Economy Meta Language). His academic career has included professorships at the University of Ottawa, UQTR, Paris 8, and Paris Nanterre, as well as research roles at the University of Montréal and École Polytechnique (CREA). He has advised and delivered official reports on research, education, and culture in the digital era for the French government, the Swiss federal government, the European Union, the Council of Europe, the Centre Pompidou (Paris), the Museum of Civilization (Québec City), EDF, and several private companies.

Polina Kolozaridi conducts research on the Internet and digital technologies. Born and raised in Tomsk, she graduated from Tomsk Polytechnic University. She completed her master’s degree at Shaninka (MSSES) in 2010 and her PhD at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in 2017. Her dissertation was titled "Internet Studies as a Field of Social Science: A Theoretical and Methodological Analysis." For several years, Polina organized the Internet and Society Club, an independent group of researchers. Through the club, she co-organized a series of expeditions to study the Internet in various Russian cities, as well as a series of conferences and online schools focused on digital research methods. She develops and implements educational programs and courses related to technology research at HSE, Shaninka, TSU, and ITMO University.

Suphan Kirmizialtin is a historian of the modern Middle East and a digital humanist. Her research examines how digital technologies reshape historical sources, methods, and the production of historical knowledge. Her work combines historical inquiry with computational methods, with particular expertise in automated text recognition, digital corpus creation, and computational text analysis. A key focus of this work is how these methods can make Middle Eastern historical sources more accessible and searchable while enabling new forms of analysis. Her more recent research extends this work into critical AI studies, examining the assumptions and forms of knowledge embedded in generative AI, as well as their implications for humanities research and education. She is particularly interested in how generative AI technologies affect multilingual texts and writers, the representation of historically under-resourced languages, and the practices through which scholars create, interpret, and assess historical evidence. Her teaching similarly brings together Middle Eastern history, digital humanities, and critical engagement with the pedagogical and methodological implications of AI.

Maurino’s academic and professional expertise spans Museology and Heritage Management, focusing on the safeguarding of cultural assets, historical documents, and institutional memory. Her work frequently intersects the technical demands of information science with cultural conservation, exploring how public and private archives can be optimized for long-term accessibility. Alongside her academic career in information sciences, she maintains an active profile as an independent composer and multi-instrumentalist, reflecting a multidisciplinary interest in the intersection of art, history, and cultural heritage.
