The HoMER Conference will take place this year, for the first time in Brazil and Latin America, with the participation of cinema history scholars whose research investigates the local and global dynamics of cinema exhibition, cinemagoing, distribution and reception. In this 14th edition, organised jointly by ESPM-Rio and the Postgraduate Programme in Cinema and Audiovisual at the Fluminense Federal University (PPGCine-UFF), with the support of Capes Foundation (Ministry of Education of Brazil), we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the research network that gives the conference its name: History of Moviegoing, Exhibition and Reception Network (HoMER Network), which held its first meeting in 2004 in Washington D.C. From the 10th to the 12th of July, with a pre-conference on the 9th, the HoMER Conference will bring together in Rio de Janeiro individual or co-authored papers and pre-constituted panels that will address the histories, developments and future research fronts linked to the intersections between the empirical histories of cinema and the following issues: transdisciplinarity, consolidation, global histories and future opportunities.
