The “First Brazilian Symposium of Fractional Calculus was held on July 25, 2013. The event was one of the main activities of the Regional Congress of Applied Mathematics, in the city of Bauru.

In addition to the presence of important Brazilian researchers, among them Prof. Edmundo Capelas de Oliveira, honored at the event, the Symposium had the distinguished presence of Prof. José Antonio Tenreiro Machado - Polytechnic Engineering Institute of the University of Porto, Portugal and Prof. Francesco Mainardi - University of Bologna, Italy, two of the greatest names in the history of Fractional Calculus.

The event was a great success with the public, all the lectures reached wide audience.

In this edition, experts from different areas of Fractional Calculus are brought together to present important topics of current research, open problems, and two minicourses - one of them in introductory level.
