The Laboratory of Cell Biochemistry at Federal University of Sao Joao del-Rei has the honor to invite the scientific community to the IV Meeting on Cardiotonic Steroids and the Na+ Pump. It is a partnership with the Department of Pharmacology at the Biomedical Sciences Institute of University of Sao Paulo and the Biomedical Sciences Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Our laboratory is interested in the Na,K-ATPase enzyme as a receptor for cardiotonic steroids. We develop research to assess the anticancer and neuroprotection effect of natural and synthetic cardiotonic steroids in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, our research extends to the importance of the plasma membrane to the integrity of the Na,K-ATPase function. Another research area we are involved is the importance of the Na,K-ATPase for the integrity and functionality of hemocomponents.
