Janez Bogataj
O Prof. Dr. Janez Bogataj nasceu em 1947 em Ljubljana, capital da Eslovênia. É Professor Emérito da Universidade de Ljubljana desde 2011.
Formou-se em Etnologia e História da Arte na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Ljubljana em 1966, doutorando-se em 1985.
Foi várias vezes chefe do Departamento de Etnologia e Antropologia Cultural da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Ljubljana e atuou como membro de muitas comissões e comitês na Universidade.
Ministrou, também, aulas na Faculdade de Estudos de Turismo da Universidade de Primorska em Portorož e no Departamento de Design da Academia de Belas Artes de Ljubljana.
Trabalhou como diretor artístico no The Dolenjska Museum, em Novo Mesto.
O campo básico de sua pesquisa, ensino e trabalho é o perfil etnológico dos eslovenos, ou seja, sua cultura, economia e modo de vida. Realizou grandes pesquisas nos campos de gastronomia, turismo, patrimônio cultural, arte de rua (grafite), artesanato, turismo e questões relacionadas a mudanças de costumes e caráter nacional.
Foi curador de exposições sobre arte e artesanato da Eslovênia em Munique (1994), Los Angeles (2000), Tóquio (2000), Viena (2001), Haia (2006) etc. Entre 1995 e 1999, foi presidente da Associação de Emigrantes Eslovenos. Foi presidente do Conselho Profissional da Organização Turística Nacional da Eslovênia (2005-2012), embaixador da EDEN (Destinos Europeus de Excelência) na Eslovênia e membro fundador do Honorable Wine Convent of Saint Urbanus, em Ljubljana. Desde 1977, é curador da exposição Bienal de Artes e Ofícios da Eslovênia.
É presidente do Conselho de Administração Franc Prešeren desde 2013. É membro da Sociedade Etnológica Eslovena e do Instituto de Rotas Culturais da União Europeia e conselheiro gastronômico da National Slovenija Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
Em virtude da relevância dos seus trabalhos, recebeu vários prêmios eslovenos e estrangeiros e em 2015 foi homenageado pelo Presidente da República da Eslovênia – Borut Pahor.
Ministrou mais de 1.000 palestras na Eslovênia e no exterior. Sua vasta produção conta com mais de 2.000 trabalhos, dos quais 70 são livros e capítulos de livros (autoria e coautoria), assim como mais de 200 artigos, críticas, discussões e entrevistas.
