Call for papers

The Law School of Ribeirão Preto of the University of São Paulo (FDRP/USP) is organizing the first International Seminar of Law Libraries (SIBJ), to be accomplished from the 23rd to the 25th of May 2022.

The SIBJ will be done in a remote format, making space for librarians and archivists, for them to present their scientific works based in scientific research or innovative experiences, and for professional networking.

THEME

The general topic of the SIBJ will be “The libraries and law: memories, present and future”, with the thematic axes below:

Axis 1 - Memory: corresponds to the social role of the technical aspects of physical or digital historical libraries. Some of the topics that can be discussed in this axis are: preservation, conservation and memory, understanding the management of preservation in libraries, management of special collections and rare books, access to the preservation of historic collections, sustainability, resources for digital preservation, challenges of the librarians in this context and the propagation and access to historic information.

Axis 2 - Innovation: related to the aspects that involve the technologies of information and communications in the context of the law library. In this axis, these are some of the topics that can be discussed: law libraries in the digital age, abilities of the librarian in this context, social media, physical space x virtual space, design thinking among other topics derived from the marketing in law libraries, digital libraries: challenges and trends, cloud storage, creative spaces, interactive ambient and distribution software’s.

Axis 3 - Legal information: proposes to discuss the role of the law library in relation to the documents, services and products present or proposed for this type of information unit. Some of the topics that can be discussed in this axis are: management of legal information, digital collections, new perspectives of service and products in law libraries, scientific metrics in law libraries, scientific visibility in law libraries, editorial market, sources of information, authorial rights and access to legal information.

The lecture will take place over Zoom or Meet.

SCHEDULE

Until May 5th 2022 - expanded summary discussion

Until May 15th 2022 - communication of work acceptance

Until May 20th 2022 - Sending the file for work projection

From the 23rd to the 24th of May 2022 - Presentation of the works

After the event

Until June 30th 2022 - Sending of the finished work

Until July 29th 2022 - Opinion of the scientific committee

Until August 19th 2022 - Publication of the Annals with the completed works and lectures given at the event

SUBMISSION OF THE WORKS

The works must be sent by https://doity.com.br/seminario-internacional-de-bibliotecas-juridicas

Approved works that are not presented by those responsible in the day and time defined in the schedule of the Seminar will not be published.

The authors that have their works accepted will need to present, until the 13th of May 2022, the list of equipment and softwares necessary for the presentation (datashow, computer, internet connection, among others).

PROCESS OF EVALUATION

TEXT FORMAT

The work must include, in the first page, the thematic axis (according to the description above), the title, the name(s) of the author(s), the name and address of the institution where they operate, including the name of the country and the respective electronic addresses.

The work must be formatted in A-4 size, typed in the 6.0 or later version of Word for Windows, in the Arial font, size 12. Identification of the authors, superscripts and subscripts, in the Arial font, size 11.

Line spacing of 1,5 cm

Top and left page margins of 3cm and bottom and left page margins of 2.5 cm.

Four page maximum, number the pages.

All the topics must be written in capital letters, Bold and followed by a colon (:) and by the text, starting in the same line that must be in justified alignment (aligned to the left and to the right). There must be no paragraphs in the text.

Must include: title (centered), author(s) (centered), identification of the author(s), Summary, Key words, Introduction (maximum of 20 lines), Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions and References.

TOPICS OF THE EXPANDED SUMMARY

SUMMARY: The text must start in the same line of the item, be clear, succinct and, mandatorily, explain the objective(s) intended, trying to justify your importance, without including bibliographic references, the main procedures used, the most expressive results and the conclusions, containing a maximum of 14 lines. The Key words must appear below, being a maximum of three, searching to not repeat words in the title, written in lowercase letters

INTRODUCTION: Utilizing the appropriate bibliography, formulate the problems approached and the justification of the importance of the topic, making it clear the objective of the work, utilizing a maximum of 20 lines. Avoid ramblings

METHODOLOGY: Make clear the conditions under which the research was carried out, the type and method of the research, utilizing the appropriate bibliography. It is recommended to elaborate in the most concise and clear form possible, so that the reader understands and reproduces the procedures realized.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Must include the results and data obtained, which may also be presented in the form of Tables, Illustrations, Graphics and/or Figures. The discussion must be clearly developed, confronting the utilized bibliography, indicating relevance, the advantages and possible limitations.

Illustrations and Figures: Must be presented with enough size and detail for the final graphic composition, preferably in the same position of the text, and in black and white. In the case of figures for the presentation of results in the form of graphics, these must be presented without borders, being the x and y axes with ½ pt., described with the same type and size of letters contained in the text and the legend in its lower position. The numeration must be successive in Arabic numerals. Tables: avoid extensive tables and superfluous data, favoring the average data; adapt their sizes to the paper’s usable space and put, as far as possible only continuous horizontal lines; their legend must be concise and self explanatory.

CONCLUSIONS: must be based exclusively on the results of the work. Avoid the repetition of the results in the subsequent listing, Seeking, Rather, to confront what was gathered with the objectives initially established.

REFERENCES – Only references cited in the text.

PRESENTATION OF THE WORKS

Time for the exposition of 20 minutes, followed by debate.

Prioritize the problem of the research, the methodology and the results obtained.

The works that are presented by co-authors or third parties must present, beforehand, a letter sent by the original author, containing the name of the person who will be responsible for presenting the work.

OTHER INFORMATIONS

Each work selected for lecture must have at least one representing enrolled in the Seminar.
