The VIII International Workshop on Sustainable Planning and Development in Hydrographic Basins will take place between the 24th and 27th of November 2021. The event will include conferences, lectures and short courses, involving a group of national and international researchers committed to the quality of debates on the theme in the contemporary scientific scene.
The Workshop will open registrations to present scientific papers in two modalities: Expanded Abstract and Full Paper, publishing research in scientific annals and E-book (with ISBN).
The event’s main objective is to discuss issues related to planning, management, preservation, conservation and sustainable development of hydrographic basins. It aims to create a space to exchange experiences between researchers, managers and professors who work in the area of planning and management of river basins, in order to contribute to advance studies in the area and to improve research and management methods and techniques.
This edition is coordinated by the Laboratory of Geomorphology, Pedology and Physical Geography (LABOGEF) and the Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences (CIAMB) at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Brazil. In view of the health circumstances imposed by COVID-19, this edition will take place in online format, valuing everyone’s safety and reinforcing the relevance of scientific interactions.

Event history
The International Workshop on Sustainable Planning and Development in Hydrographic Basins began its activities at the Federal University of Ceará in Fortaleza in 2007, with a meeting of national and international researchers, technicians, managers and students. Since then, the event has been held twice a year.
The event remained organized by the Universidade Federal do Ceará in 2009 and 2011; in 2013 it was organized by the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) in Presidente Prudente (SP); in 2015 by the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) in Belém (PA); in 2017 it was organized by the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia in Uberlândia (MG), and in 2019 it was organized by the Universidade do Estado do Amazonas (UEA), in Manaus.
