Since 2018, the eradication of symptomatic plants is no longer obligatory for citrus canker, which favors the presence of Xanthomonas citri in the orchards. The control of citrus canker requires massive use of cupric formulations in an attempt to prevent the spread of the disease. Lytic bacteriophages can be a sustainable alternative to kill Xanthomonas citri and reduce the use of copper in citriculture.
