  • Increasingly recognized as important at work (e.g. bring up the Epoca article)
  • One important soft skill is teamwork
  • However, difficult for business schools to instill in their students; business schools face a challenge in gradating students who have them
  • Receiving feedback from peers (in the case of the peer feedback tool) is one means of increasing student soft skills while in university

2. Research findings on peer feedback in developing teamwork skills (15 minutes – Tom)

3. ITP Metrics (20 minutes – Tom)  

  • Quick overview of a user friendly tool – just to introduce the tool which business schools can easily adopt. Show sample assessment plans. Demo the mock assessment process.

4. Demonstration of ITP Metrics (10 minutes – Tom)  

  • Login to itpmetrics.com, learn very basics of use (i.e., going through the mock assessment process)

5. Making ITP Metrics successful in the classroom (10 minutes – Tom)

  • Discussion of practical issues such as design considerations, timing, communication to students, use for evaluation/grading

6. How to “institutionalize” the use of peer feedback (10 minutes – Magda)

  • Example of the Telfer School of Management (University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada)
  • Also experience at John Molson School of Business (Concordia University, Montreal, Canada)

7. Many benefits I’ve observed over years of use - 10 minutes – Magda)

  • Many benefits of doing this; easy to do in classes that have teamwork, a quick assessment from peers who have important information to share, little/no time/money investment by instructor
  • ITP offers super user friendly tools to make peer feedback a regular part of teamwork
  • Reports generated by the system provide students with evidence of their teamwork skills that can be tracked over time
