Dr. Mangul possui graduação em Matemática Aplicada pela Moldova State University e Doutorado em Bioinformática pela Georgia State University. Atualmente, está no cargo de pós-doutor junto ao grupo de pesquisa de Eleazar Eskin na University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) e Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences (QCB), liderando um grupo de pesquisa genômica. A pesquisa de Dr. Mangul tem como foco o desenvolvimento de métodos de bioinformática para alavancar conjuntos de dados genômicos de alta produtividade, visando um melhor entendimento da biologia de doenças. O produto principal dessa pesquisa é o Read Origin Protocol (ROP), uma ferramenta para descobrir a origem de todas as leituras de sequenciamento de RNA a partir de complexas moléculas de RNA, receptores de células T e B recombinados e comunidades microbianas.

Dr. Mangul holds a degree in Applied Mathematics from Moldova State University and a PhD in Bioinformatics from Georgia State University. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Eleazar Eskin’s research group at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences (QCB), leading a genomic research group. Dr. Mangul's research focuses on the development of bioinformatics methods to leverage genomic data sets of high productivity, aiming at a better understanding of disease biology. The main product of this research is the Read Origin Protocol (ROP), a tool for discovering the origin of all RNA sequencing readings from complex RNA molecules, recombined T and B cell receptors and microbial communities.
