GENERAL GUIDELINES
IV INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF LITERATURE AND ENVIRONMENT
II BIENNIAL CONFERENCE
OF ASLE-BRASIL
THE DEMISE OF NATURE - NARRATIVES OF WATER AND FORESTS IN THE ANTHROPOCENE
FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AMAZONAS - MANAUS - BRAZIL
June 4th to June 7th 2018
The predominant narrative of the Anthropocene is that humans have been destroying nature by dumping 1,500 billion tons of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Other forms of pollution of the various water sources, as well as the destruction of forests and, with them, the extermination of thousands of species. It is no longer possible to ignore this fact. The future of human and non-human species is at stake. We are destroying our own home.
The purpose of this conference is to make each participant a militant in this intense revolutionary struggle of moral content by changing our ways of thinking about the environment, this includes the unconditional acceptance of such goals as the preservation of nature as an inherent right accorded to all living beings. This prerogative stems from the deep need to protect the Earth by respecting other species through our educational work and actions that can change the human perspective of how we relate to nature. The old anthropocentric paradigms need to be completly revised. The past must be understood so that we can open doors to the future of the planet.
We need to produce narratives in this century that can help us change our relationship with Nature. In this way, we invite papers in the thematic axes below to submit their proposals on the production of studies to help us to think in a more lucid and respectful way of Nature and its beings, as well as to teach us to live in the Anthropocene.
Panel presentations should be organized around the following thematic axes:
